Features

Linked project records

Keep appointments, temporary works items, briefs, checks, inspections and permits together.

Evidence and status

Review completeness and status from the records held against each item.

Project paperwork

Prepare register, permit and close-out documents from the project data.

Getting started

New to TW Control? Follow Run a project through the register for the step-by-step workflow. Use Help by topic to find a particular field or control, and read Checks and limits before using the output.

Help by topic

Choose a topic for instructions, field guidance and controls.

Run a project through the register

  1. Set up the project, item numbering and inspection intervals. Record the people, organisations, roles and appointments.
  2. Create each temporary works item and maintain its brief, design, check, construction and inspection records in that item.
  3. Use the completeness and status views to identify missing evidence. Status is derived from the recorded evidence rather than edited independently.
  4. Issue permits to load or unload only after the applicable record gates are satisfied. If an authorised override is used, record the reason in the item log.
  5. Print the register, design brief, check certificate, inspection record, permits and close-out pack from the same project data.

Save and share records

  • Project records are stored in a JSON project file and autosaved in the browser while the app is open.
  • Export an item fragment for the designer and merge it back when completed, keeping the rest of the project register intact.
  • The generated paperwork stays tied to the same item and project data, reducing mismatches between separate forms.

In-app help

Create or open a central project to share records and reserve a project email address. Save central records explicitly; the toolbar Save button keeps a JSON file copy. The Correspondence tab holds drafts and received messages. Live email requires a configured mail service.

Nominate people, collect digital competence forms and appointment acknowledgements under People; review Details and finalise their appointments.

Set up the project, numbering and inspection intervals here; record appointments under People.

Add each temporary works item to the Register and keep its brief, design, check, construction and inspection records inside the item.

Status is derived from the records — the register can never contradict the evidence.

Permits to Load / Unload are gated: the app checks the records before issue, and any override is recorded with a justification in the item log.

All paperwork (register, EDB, check certificate, inspection record, permits, close-out pack) prints from the same data.

Save links a JSON project database for automatic write-back every 10 minutes while the app is open. Send an item fragment to the TWD, merge it back on return.

Checks and limits

Control tool, not design software

TW Control supports record administration and evidence tracking; it does not perform temporary works design or replace the project’s BS 5975 procedures. The Principal Contractor, Designated Individual, Temporary Works Coordinator, designers and checkers remain responsible for competence, approvals, safe systems and statutory duties. Keep exported project files secure and backed up.
